Why JSON iGraph Diff

Engineered for developers & precision

Intra-line word highlights

Beyond line-level additions and removals, granular token segmentation pinpoints the exact characters, keys, and values altered.

100% private in-browser

Diffing runs locally on your client device. Zero telemetry, zero server uploads, and zero risk to confidential data or API keys.

Synchronized split diff

Dual scroll-locked panes with Prev/Next difference jumping, centered instant swap (⇄), and high-contrast color markers.

1-click syntax auto-repair

Invalid JSON syntax? Auto-Fix strips trailing commas, comments, and unquoted keys so you can compare without manual debugging.

Technical Deep Dive

Precision diffing with Myers SES algorithm

Standard text diff algorithms treat code as raw sequential strings. In JSON documents, unformatted whitespace, arbitrary indentation, or minified text routinely obscures true data changes.

JSON iGraph executes a deterministic Visual Split Diff powered by Eugene Myers' Shortest Edit Script (SES) algorithm, combined with automatic RFC 8259 indentation and intra-line token segmentation. You can step through each change with Prev/Next buttons, toggle whitespace sensitivity, and instantly invert comparison payloads with the centered Swap button.

Answers

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about comparing JSON documents, key ordering, and privacy.

How does the side-by-side visual split diff work?
JSON iGraph provides a synchronized dual-pane visual split diff powered by Myers Shortest Edit Script algorithm. Matching lines remain aligned across both panes, while additions, deletions, and modifications are highlighted with high-contrast color markers and intra-line word-level highlights.
Why does key ordering matter in JSON comparisons?
In visual line-by-line diffing, key ordering reflects the raw serialization structure of your JSON documents. If two JSON payloads have matching keys but in different order, the side-by-side view displays where keys moved or differ in structure. Automatic formatting ensures clean, readable indentation across both documents.
Are my JSON payloads uploaded or sent to any server?
Never. All JSON parsing, formatting, validation, and diff computations run 100% in your local browser sandbox. No data is ever uploaded, logged, or transmitted across a network, making it completely safe for confidential configs and API keys.
Can I swap the original and modified JSON documents?
Yes! Click the centered Swap button (⇄) located in between the two editor panes. It instantly swaps both JSON documents with a snappy tactile animation, updating the diff calculations and difference counters in real time.
How do I navigate between differences with Prev and Next?
Use the Prev and Next difference buttons in the toolbar to jump sequentially between each difference. The counter badge displays your current position (e.g. 1 / 3) and automatically scrolls the diff panes to keep the active change in view.
What happens if my JSON has syntax errors like trailing commas or single quotes?
If either JSON document fails strict RFC 8259 validation, an error banner with the exact line and column pointer will appear. You can click ⚡ Auto-Fix Syntax in the editor to immediately repair trailing commas, unquoted keys, single quotes, and comments into valid JSON.
